We Love Baptisms !

Baptisms are a sign of growth in the Kingdom of God. We urge parents of little ones to read our Baptism Application and Information. This gives an overview of baptism, including who can be a God-parent, and answers frequently asked questions.
Naturally, the Vicar will help in preparing for this big day and for the journey it begins as a friend or disciple of Jesus.
Normally, baptism or Christening is celebrated on the Second Sunday of the month. Welcoming of the newly baptised into the Church is a feature of the Service. Baptism at other times (Private Baptism) is available if required by arrangement with the Vicar.
Before the appointed day, the Vicar will assist with preparation, instruction, and happily answer any questions.
It is customary for children to be baptised in their first few months of life. They will need sponsors (parents or God-parents) willing to support and encourage them.
For all baptisms please confirm the date and other details with our Parish Office Secretary before sending invitations to guests.
What is Baptism?
Baptism is a simple ceremony of washing in water, practiced by Christians since the time of Jesus.
It is a sign of faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Baptism symbolizes Jesus' own death and resurrection . Those who ask for baptism recognise that their standing with God depends on what Jesus did for them by his dying and rising again.
All who are baptised are received into the family of the Christian Church.
From one point of view, baptism represents what God does for us - He gives us a new birth by his Holy Spirit. This is what we pray for when we are baptised. The one essential thing on the part of the person being baptised is sincere faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, which in the case of infants is expressed by their sponsors.
